Eran

Someone to talk to

ERAN, Israel's only emotional first aid service, operates a confidential 24-hour hotline, seven days a week, 365 days a year, providing unconditional emotional support for all. Professionally trained volunteers address issues of violence, suicide, loneliness, mental illness, distress, anxiety and more.

ERAN’s hotline provides immediate emotional first aid through a one-time intervention where both the callers and volunteers are anonymous. A patient and compassionate listening ear is offered to any individual regardless of gender, age, nationality, religion, race or attitude.

In the past year, more than 162,000 calls were answered and lives were saved by ERAN volunteers “being there” for callers when they needed help most urgently.  ERAN has almost a thousand volunteers operating hotlines from 12 branches around the country, and a "virtual" Internet Branch.  During 2013 ERAN vounteers attended to 3500 "suicide" calls.

ERAN also provides unique support to the community during times of war, as our volunteers are well-trained to aid people suffering from anxiety and symptoms of post-traumatic stress.  During the 2006 Lebanon War, ERAN responded to 50% more calls than it usually answers in an average month.

ERAN volunteers are carefully selected and trained by professional counselors on ERAN's techniques in addressing these urgent calls for help.  After the basic training course, volunteers participate in continuing educational programs to improve and refine their skills.

There are many excellent charitable organizations that address ones physical needs, such as providing food parcels or medical equipment, etc. However, emotional suffering goes together with physical distress and to fully help a person in need, one must also consider their emotional well-being.

ERAN is the only organization in Israel, which provides a 24-hour hotline for direct emotional support.

YOU can help ERAN respond to the ever growing number of calls seeking emotional support by funding the cost of recruiting, training and maintaining more volunteers in all of its branches. This hotline is a vital service for the people of Israel and with your support we can continue to help the many callers who have no one else to turn to.
